Change orders are an inevitable part of construction projects, necessary to address unforeseen circumstances or client-requested modifications. Structur provides a streamlined system for creating and managing change orders, ensuring accurate cost tracking and clear communication.

To get started, navigate to "Change Orders" within Financial Management in your navigation bar and choose "Create a New Change Order."

Creating a Change Order

  1. Title your change order with a clear and descriptive name.

  2. Adjust profit and overhead percentages (optional). By default, these will be the same as your original estimate, but you have the flexibility to modify them if needed.

  3. Describe the change order in detail. Clearly explain the reasons for the change, the scope of the modifications, and any associated costs.

  4. Add cost code items or groups. Just like creating an estimate, you can add detailed cost breakdowns to accurately reflect the financial impact of the change.

  5. Review terms and conditions. The default terms and conditions from your settings will automatically populate, ensuring consistency and clarity.

  6. Send the change order to the client for approval.

After Approval

Once the client approves the change order, the following happens automatically in Structur:

  • Budget Update: The new cost code items or groups are added to your project budget, ensuring accurate cost tracking.

  • Invoice Update: The changes are reflected in any new invoices generated for the project.

Structur's Change Order feature simplifies the process of managing project modifications, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and client satisfaction.
