Mastering Tasks in Structur

Structur's Tasks feature provides a powerful way to manage your work, similar to tools like Trello and Asana, but with added functionality specifically for construction projects. This article will guide you through the ins and outs of using Tasks effectively.

Creating and Managing Tasks

To create a new task, simply click the "New Task" button or press enter within a task board. You can then:

  • Edit Task Name: Click on the task name to modify it.

  • Assign Members: Assign tasks to team members for clear responsibility.

  • Change Status: Update the task status (e.g., "In Progress," "High Priority") to reflect its current state.

  • Set Due Dates: Assign deadlines to tasks and sub-tasks to keep projects on schedule.

  • Link to Leads or Projects: Connect tasks to specific leads or projects for better organization and context.

  • Set Task Privacy: Choose whether a task is visible to your entire team or only to assigned members.

  • Add Notes and Sub-tasks: Break down tasks into smaller, manageable sub-tasks and add detailed notes for clarity.

  • Attach Files: Upload relevant documents and images directly to tasks.

  • Add Comments: Use the comment section for discussions and updates related to the task.

  • Duplicate, Delete, and Move Tasks: Easily manage your tasks with options to duplicate, delete, or move them between boards.

  • Mark as Complete: Click the checkbox to mark a task as complete. Completed tasks move to the "Completed" area within the task board.

Task Boards

Task boards help you organize your tasks. You can:

  • Create New Boards: Add new boards to categorize tasks by department, project, or any other criteria.

  • Use Task Board Templates: Create reusable templates for common workflows or project types. This ensures consistency and saves time when starting new projects or tasks.

  • Customize Boards: Tailor boards to your specific needs by adding, hiding, or reordering columns (stages).

  • Import Tasks from CSV: Easily import tasks from other platforms using CSV files.

Viewing and Sorting Tasks

Structur offers flexible ways to view and sort your tasks:

  • Board View: Visualize tasks on a Kanban-style board with columns representing different stages.

  • List View: See tasks in a list format, making it easy to scan and filter.

  • Calendar View: Get a chronological overview of your tasks and deadlines.

  • Sorting Options: Sort tasks alphabetically, by due date, or by priority.

  • Filtering: Filter tasks by name, priority, stage, and other criteria to focus on specific items.

Managing Stages

Stages represent the columns on your task boards. You can:

  • Add New Stages: Create custom stages to match your workflow.

  • Reorder Stages: Arrange stages in a sequence that makes sense for your process.

  • Hide Stages: Temporarily hide stages from view while keeping the data intact.

Completed Tasks

Completed tasks are stored in a dedicated "Completed" area, accessible from any board. You can still view and access the details of completed tasks.
